Please note that we have updated our operating hours. As of August 17, gates open for reserved times starting at 10:00am and our closing hours remain unchanged. To visit, both Zoo Members and non-members are required to reserve a date and time, and purchase tickets and parking in advance, until further notice. Thank you for your continued support.

Docent Tours

Our docent guides lead educational walking tours for school groups of 15 or more (subject to availability). Tours are available during the months of September through March (subject to change) and tour topics correlate with current California Science Content Standards (SCS). Requests must be made at least 4 weeks in advance of visit. For more information and to schedule a docent tour for your school group, please call (415) 753-7122 or e-mail zooguide@sfzoo.org.

Reduced Admission for San Francisco Residents

Through a partnership with the City and County of San Francisco, the San Francisco Zoo is pleased to offer reduced daily admission tickets.

Proof of San Francisco residency is required and can be established by providing one of the following:

• A valid driver’s license
• A valid identification card
• A utility, phone, or other local bill with your name and address, along with a current, valid photo I.D.
• Free days for SF Residents — At this time, traditional Free Days at SF Zoo & Gardens have been suspended due to the pandemic. Currently, all guests must book an advance reservation in order to visit and with our limited capacity restrictions, we are unable to safely accommodate the Free Day program. Free Days will resume in the future. Sorry for the inconvenience.
